The FRC is a group of dedicated community and parent volunteers (called FRC Liaisons) who represent their school sites within the Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD). Operating under the umbrella of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working in collaboration with CUSD, the FRC addresses the educational needs of CUSD students by researching and applying for grants as additional sources of funding to support learning opportunities at the school site they represent. In general, upon joining the FRC, Liaisons have no previous grant-writing experience, which is not required to participate in the FRC.

As state budget cuts to education continues to be an issue, grant writing as an alternative and additional means to raise funds for student needs is even more critical.
