About
Student Leadership Council
The Carlsbad Educational Foundation’s Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a program for high school students within the Carlsbad Unified School District. This empowering program provides members the opportunity to develop life-long leadership skills while supporting the Foundation’s mission of developing impactful programs to provide increased educational opportunities.
Students focus on understanding themselves as leaders and setting personal and group goals to develop their leadership skills through monthly meetings, volunteer opportunities, and student ambassador roles.
At the end of every year, students present a capstone project called, Learning to Lead, which brings together a year of learning and experiences.
Vision Statement:
Inspiring tomorrow’s leaders by helping today’s students ignite their passion, find their voice and unlock their potential to make a difference.
Mission Statement:
The Student Leadership Council fosters collaboration, learning, sharing and advocacy to increase leadership development opportunities for student role models and mentors.
Learning to Lead
Capstone Project
The capstone project to the Student Leadership Council is a culmination of the greatest, most critical takeaways from the year of learning about leadership.
On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, the 2020-21 council members presented their Learning to Lead capstone presentation.
Student Leadership Council members worked in five small groups to develop presentations on “Leadership Now”. Each group examined a variety of topics critical to leadership today. Learning to Lead dives into topics such as, “How have different industries adapted throughout COVID?”, “What makes an excellent leader in a virtual setting?”, and “How have we changed as a result of our changing world?”. Join us as we showcase our Carlsbad student leaders!
