Enrollment

I have already registered for the fall, does that guarantee my spot?

Your registration is confirmed to start care ONLY when you receive a confirmation letter with start date indicated. Questions? Please email: Kidscare@Carlsbaded.org

What should I know about registering?

Enrollment is only valid for one year. Every student is required to re-register every year. When re-registering for a new school year, returning families will log in to their parent portal and register for the new school year. New incoming families will start their registration from our website carlsbaded.org
The $75 account registration fee is an annual payment to process and set-up your account. It does not go towards your Kids Care or payment. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Can I split the expenses on a single account?

No. If you want to split the expenses of student care, each person being billed needs to set up their own account and pay the $75.00 account registration fee per student.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

We offer a 10% sibling discount and a 40% third-child discount for families who have three children in the Kids Care Program. This is only offered during the school year; sibling discounts are not offered for Holiday Care or Summer Kids Care.

We also offer a 50% discount for CUSD employees.

Discounts cannot be combined and are applied to the least expensive program.

Is financial aid available?

Yes. Families must complete our financial aid application found here. We accept financial aid applications throughout the school year and awards are based on available funds.

If my student care needs change, how do I switch my schedule?

Approval for requested schedule changes is dependent on space availability. We require a 14-day written notice on all requested scheduled changes please email Kidscare@Carlsbaded.org to initiate requested changes.

Where do I update my account information?

Information may be updated on the parent portal.

I no longer need care, is the $75 registration fee refundable?

No. Registration fees are non-refundable. The $75 registration fee covers the entire school year, including Holiday Care and Summer Adventure. We are hopeful you will return for any of these programs.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a 14-day written notice on all cancellations. Please email KidsCare@CarlsbadEd.org to initiate a cancellation request.

What is the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) policy?

Effective January 1, 2026, there will be changes to how Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) funding is used to ensure we can serve as many families as possible by avoiding overlapping enrollments.

What’s Changing?

  • Program Enrollment: Families will need to choose one program at a time for their child:
    • You may enroll in Kids Care (including Kids Care Summer and Holiday Adventures) or Enrichment Programs, but not both at the same time unless you choose to pay privately for one of them.
    • We cannot hold a spot in one program while your child participates in another.
  • Attendance Policy: Students enrolled in ELO-P funded programs are expected to be active participants.
    • If a student does not attend for two consecutive weeks, their enrollment will be removed to allow other families access.
    • Families may request to continue participation as a private paying family if they wish to keep their child enrolled after non-attendance.

Why These Changes?

Our goal is to maximize opportunities for all students within the limits of available funding. By ensuring active participation and avoiding overlapping enrollments, we can serve more families and maintain high-quality programs.

Please note that continued program availability depends on funding levels throughout the year. If funding becomes fully utilized, we may not be able to offer continued programs. However, if there is remaining funding available at the end of the year, we will gladly reach out to families with additional opportunities for participation.

Programming

How does my child get to Kids Care after school?

TK/Kindergarteners are picked up from school dismissal by a Kids Care staff member. 1st-5th graders walk to the Kids Care classroom when they are dismissed from school. Please see school site directory for site contact information and room numbers.

If my child is enrolled in before-school care from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., is drop-off flexible within that time frame?
You may drop off anytime between 7 a.m -7:45 a.m. For children who begin school at 8 a.m, they must arrive by 7:45 a.m. Students who arrive between 7:45 – 8 a.m. must go directly to class.
What will my student do during school hours and after-school hours?

Please see the sample schedule found on our Student Care page.

How will students be grouped?

Our goal is to group students by grade to provide the best social and academic environment. Please note that this is dependent on enrollment and grades may be combined.

Is Kids Care open on school breaks?

Kids Care does offer Holiday Care on days when school is closed for breaks or to observe federal holidays. Holiday Care requires a separate registration, found online.

Kids Care is closed on select holidays. Review the Kids Care calendar for those dates.
