Physical Education (PE) 1 – Session A

Course Description: PE 1 is a required course for all 9th graders and provides the opportunity to learn and apply core concepts of Health Science and Physical Education. This course develops the knowledge and ability of students to attain and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. There is a strong emphasis on individual fitness, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor learning, and anatomy/physiology. The course prepares students to pass the state-mandated physical fitness test in the spring and satisfy the state Health Science requirements.

Hybrid Learning Model:

Physical Activity Log: May 20 – June 28, students will submit a weekly physical activity log. Activity requires 90 minutes of physical activity and 30 minutes of stretching five days per week.

Hybrid Instruction: June 12 – June 27, students will attend in person at Carlsbad High School Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm
